Soccer: Nabweteme Records Hat Trick in Bulldogs Overtime Loss to Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The SWOSU Soccer team took Oklahoma Baptist to the limit behind Sandra Nabweteme's hat trick, but would ultimately come up short falling 4-3 to the Bison on Thursday.
The Bison would land the first punch, putting the first goal on the board in the 16th minute of the match. Oklahoma Baptist would go up 2-0 in the 19th minute when Tori Kitchel put a ball in the back of the net. Nabweteme gave the Bulldogs life in the 39th minute, capitalizing on a penalty kick attempt and cutting the Bison lead to one goal. Oklahoma Baptist found the back of the net once more before the half to take a 3-1 lead into the break. The Bulldogs registered four shots in the first half, but made the most of their opportunities placing three of those shots on goal.
Nabweteme turned the momentum in favor of SWOSU in the 68th minute of the match with her second goal of the game, bringing the Bulldogs within one goal. She tied up the contest up minutes later with her third goal of the match, this time off an assist by Alimata Rabo. Time would expire in regulation with the two sides knotted up at 3-3. Bulldog goalkeeper Steffi Silvera put up a clean half, knocking away the three shots placed her direction by the Bison.
The overtime period would last five minutes before Oklahoma Baptist put a goal on the board and the Bulldogs would fall to the Bison.
SWOSU will return to action for their final match of the regular season against Southern Nazarene on Saturday, October 27, at 6:00 pm in Bethany.
