Stewart crowned Miss Northwestern 2019

• Hudgins takes home Outstanding Teen title

Alysson Stewart of Burlington was named Miss Northwestern Oklahoma State University 2019 during the annual Miss Northwestern competition on Sunday, Oct. 28. Autumn Hudgins was crowned as Miss Northwestern's Outstanding Teen 2019.

Stewart, a junior biology major, performed the vocal solo "Someone Like You," and her platform is "Happy, Healthy, and REAL."

Hudgins performed a tap dance to "Fire Under My Feet" for the pageant, and her platform is "Serving with HeART."

Stewart will receive a $1,500 tuition scholarship and a cash scholarship as Miss Northwestern. When Hudgins attends college at Northwestern, she will receive a $1,500 tuition scholarship as well.

Paisley Heath of Alva, named Miss Northwestern's Star 2019, will accompany Stewart to the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Competition in Tulsa in June. Heath is the daughter of Jaci and Jason Heath of Alva.

Miss Northwestern's first runner-up is Katherine Blair, junior instrumental music education major from Waynoka. She will receive a $1,000 tuition scholarship and a cash scholarship.

The runner-up in the Teen category will receive a $250 tuition scholarship if she chooses Northwestern as her university of choice for higher education. First runner-up for Miss Northwestern's Outstanding Teen, and winner of the teen category for People's Choice Award, Taylor Bishop of Choctaw, will receive a $1,250 scholarship.

EmmaRae Cook, senior general studies major from Alva, won the Miss Northwestern People's Choice.

Candidates in both competitions were judged in talent, interview, lifestyle and fitness and onstage question categories. Each contestant in both the Miss and Teen categories will receive cash participation scholarship awards.

Lyzeth Guevara, junior criminal justice major from Guymon, also competed in the Miss Northwestern competition.

Abi Beane of Altus, Elise Burmeister of Tulsa, and Gracie Furfey of Altus, also were candidates in the teen contest.

Other candidates for the Miss Northwestern Star program included Sage Baird of Waynoka, Brayleigh Byers of Alva, and Angely Mesta of Guymon.
