The 1934 Rose Bowl Game – Part 2

On January 1, 1934, the Columbia University Lions and the Stanford University Indians met on the gridiron in Pasadena, California, playing the annual Rose Bowl game.

Game day found the football field to be a muddy mess. The area had experienced torrential rainfall totaling 18 inches during the last three days of 1933. The Rose Bowl grounds crew had to pump 2,500,000 gallons of water out of the stadium before the teams could play the game!
