Kaynette Scheck's peers selected her as the South Barber Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Sitting in Kaynette Scheck's fourth-grade classroom for a lunchtime interview finds a teacher who is as excited about her students' learning as the self-proclaimed "outdoor girl" is about her family tradition of rodeo – team roping.
As her students enter their classroom from lunch and recess, it's apparent from their hugs and wanting to linger around their teacher that she is beloved by them.
"I love helping them (students) believe they can when they think they can't," Scheck said.
In education 15 years, this is Scheck's fourth year to teach at South Barber Elementary School in Kiowa, Kansas....
