Goldbugs lose at Newkirk 43-35

The Alva Goldbugs have generally won matchups with the Tigers, but Tuesday night's season opener in Newkirk didn't end up so well. The Tigers defeated the Goldbugs 43-35.

Alva graduated several of their strong scoring players last year and fielded two freshmen in the starting lineup. The Goldbugs caused 26 Tiger turnovers in the game, but Newkirk also amassed a large number of turnovers against the Goldbugs.

Senior Goldbug Dalton Rose put the first points on the board. Newkirk's Carson Vap made one free throw after he was fouled while shooting. Rose added another bucket to put Alva in the lead...
