Ladybugs cage Tigers in season opener Tuesday

The Varsity Ladybugs were victorious on the road in their season opener in Newkirk versus the Tigers on Tuesday.

Chloe Durkee's (22) defense leads to a turnover and score for the Ladybugs in Tuesday's game versus the Newkirk Tigers.

The game featured two double-digit scorers for the Ladybugs. Peyton Jones led the team in scoring with 23 points, while Acacia Charles scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the game.

Haiden Huster of the Tigers scored 9 points in the game.

The Ladybugs pulled away in the second quarter, scoring 23 points in the quarter finishing the first half up 34-14.

The second half proved to be a closer game although the Tigers did not close the gap. The Ladybugs scored 10 points in the third and fourth quarters while Newkirk scored 8 points in the third and 9 points in the fourth.

Early in the fourth quarter the bench relieved the starters for Alva and finished the game.

The Ladybugs play Blackwell High in Blackwell today, Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m.
