Women's Basketball: Lady Tigers Survive Against UAM

Monticello, Ark- The Ouachita Lady Tigers went on the road to Monticello on Saturday afternoon and outlasted The University of Arkansas at Monticello by a final score of 58-56. This was not only the Lady Tigers first conference victory of the season, but also their first road win on the year moving them to an overall record of 3-4, which keeps them at a .500 win team.
As a team The Lady Tigers shot 40.8% from the floor, grabbed a total of 37 rebounds as a team, and had 24 points off of turnovers. For Arkansas-Monticello, they shot a combined 31.7% as a team, picked up 38 total rebounds as a team, and had 22 points off of turnovers.
The Lady Tigers outplayed Arkansas-Monticello down low as they scored a total of 32 points in the paint, while Arkansas-Monticello scored only 24 points down low. The Lady Tigers also won the battle in second chance points in the contest where the would outscore Arkansas-Monticello 13 second chance points to 12. Another stat battle that the Lady Tigers won was fast break points. Ouachita had 4 fast breaks points, while Arkansas-Monticello had 0 fast break points in the contest.
In the second half of the game the Lady Tigers had a hot shooting hand as a team as they shot 56.25% as a team in the third quarter and 60.00% as a team in the fourth quarter. They were also hot from behind the arc in the fourth quarter as they shot 50.00% from behind the three point line. The Lady Tigers also shot 100% from the free throw line in the third quarter.
Leading tonight's charge for the Lady Tigers was Alivia Huell (Malvern, Ark), who also had an impressive showing in this afternoon's contest against Arkansas-Monticello, which included another double double on the season. Huell scored 13 total points, picked up 13 rebounds, dished out 4 total assists, blocked a shot, and added 3 steals in the contest. This gives Huell her third double double of the season. This is also Huell's second consecutive double double earning one in the teams last game at home in Bill Vining against Arkansas Tech on Thursday.
Eden Crow (Texarkana, Arkansas) also had an impressive night in this afternoons contest, Crow would go on to score a total of 14 points, and grab 5 rebounds. Crow also shot an impressive 60.00% from the floor.
Madison Brittain was also a major factor in the win over UAM this afternoon. Brittain scored a total of 9 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, had 2 assists, blocked a shot, and stole the ball 3 times.
The Lady Tigers next game will be another road game down in Magnolia as they will take on the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders on Saturday, December 8th.
