DURANT, Okla. – A rough shooting second half spelled trouble for Southeastern as the Savage Storm dropped its Great American Conference fall finale to Henderson State 80-65 on Tuesday afternoon in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 7-2 overall on the season and 3-2 in GAC play with its next action coming on Dec. 29 in an exhibition against Division I Texas-San Antonio at 3 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas.

Southeastern shot 46.2 percent in the first half, including a 7-of-14 effort form behind the arc, but saw its second half shooting dip to 26.9 percent which included a 2-of-11 effort from long range.

Jett Jobe led the way on the scoreboard with 17 points, while Kellen Manek chipped in 12 as did Todd Dawkins off the bench.

Kayo Goncalves added eight points and Adam Dworsky seven, while Kevin Buckingham was limited to four points in 16 minutes of playing time after picking up four fouls over his first six minutes of playing time.

Dworsky finished the night with seven assists to lead all players in the category, while Jobe added five.

Goncalves led the Storm on the glass with seven rebounds, while SE was outrebounded 47-to-27.

HSU scored the first five points of the game and Southeastern found itself playing catch up for most of the first half, tying the game for the first time on a Ziga Zatezic three with 2:11 to go in the half at 31-31.

The Reddies would get three free throws to regain the lead, but jumpers by Goncalves and Zatezic would close out the half and give the Storm a 35-34 lead at the half.

Southeastern opened the second half with a pair of Buckingham free throws, but HSU ansered with a 7-0 run to regain the lead.

The Storm would twice knot the game, first at 43-43 on a pair of Jobe free throws and then again at 45-45 on a Dworsky layup with 13:46 to play.

However, the Reddies would again reel off a 7-0 run to go up 52-45 and the Storm was unable to rally after that point as the visitors would hand SE the 80-65 loss.
