Madison Raney's career night not enough against Rogers State

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Ouachita Lady Tigers clashed against Rogers State in a winter non-conference match and suffered defeat, 85-75.

Madison Raney put in a career night scoring 15 points on 7-12 shooting for the Lady Tigers. Madison Brittain and Alivia Huell each also added 15 points in the back and forth affair. Huell scored half of the Tigers 18 points in the fourth quarter including a three pointer with 5 seconds left in the game. Jakyya Clay likewise performed well tallying 10 points and 7 rebounds.

In the first quarter, the Lady Tigers allowed the Hillcats to take a nine point lead before Madison Brittain drained her first of three three pointers to cut the lead to 6. The Hillcats made a jumper with 30 seconds left to push the lead back to 8 at the end of the first.

In the second quarter the Lady Tigers came out with determination chipping away at Rogers State's lead. The Tigers then went on an 11-0 run which was sparked by Jakyya Clay scoring four points in that stretch. The Hillcats battle back and took the lead with a little over a minute left in the half when Madison Raney went on a 4-0 run of her own to close the half and give the Tigers a three point lead at half 41-38.


The second half the Tigers battled and battled but could not stop Lindsey Byfield who had 31 points on the night. The fourth quarter the Tigers showed their true grit when they continued to fight even though being down double digits. Alivia Huell led the fourth quarter charge scoring 9 points in that time.

The Tigers shot 46% from the field and 43% from 3 which are the second best (Southern Arkansas First) marks for Ouachita this season

OBU only turned the ball over 13 times which is the least they have in a game all year

The Lady Tigers get to enjoy the Christmas break and will return to action on January 3 against Southern Nazarene at 5:30 pm.
