Christmas spirit in the air at Burlington
December 21, 2018
The Christmas spirit has definitely been in the air at Burlington schools this year. Constructing gingerbread houses, decorating cookies, making ornaments and cards and adorning the school with lots of festive art work is just a part of their cheer.
Students in pre-K through 12th grade collected many gifts for ten area children for Christmas. This activity was sponsored by the student council.
For many years, Mrs. Elliott's language arts classes have helped younger students write and deliver letters to Santa. This is a great way for the older students and younger students to connect.
Superintendent Stacey Croft requested that each of the classes make a hand-made ornament for the school Christmas tree. All of the classes, as well as staff, embraced the request and came up with many creative ornaments. High school classes utilized their skills in the wood shop, the ag shop and art using the plasma cutter, the laser engraver and their talent as painters to create beautiful ornaments. Each of the classes presented their ornaments to Dr. Croft and received a bag of hot chocolate goodies to enjoy.
Teachers surprised the students on the last day by dressing up in fun holiday attire to send the students off for a great holiday break.
