Ladybugs win big over Tonkawa

The Ladybugs broke a two-game road losing streak in a 59-39 home win versus the Buccaneer Girls of Tonkawa Tuesday night.

Peyton Jones and Hallie Durkee led the quick start in the game. Peyton Jones scored 11 points in the first quarter, putting Alva up 15-7. Hallie Durkee got hot from deep in the second quarter, scoring 11 points. Of the 11 points Durkee scored, she made three three-point baskets in the quarter, helping the Ladybugs finish the first half up 32-14.

The second half of the game was slightly closer as the Ladybugs outscored Tonkawa 13-8 in the third quarter and the Buccaneer girls outscored the Ladybugs 17-14 in the forth quarter.

Stats

Alva had two players in double figures. Peyton Jones led the way for both teams with 27 points. Hallie Durkee added 18 points in the game, with majority of her points coming from deep (four three-point baskets made).

Tonkawa also had two players in double figures. Skylee Perkins scored 13 points in the game with eight of her points coming the four quarter. Cameryn Alexander also added 13 points for the Buccaneer Girls.

The Ladybugs play again tonight versus Perry High at 6:30 p.m.
