Ex-Department of Revenue employee to fill Kansas House seat

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Democrats have picked a former Kansas Department of Revenue employee to fill a vacancy in the state House.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that Democratic precinct committee members on Thursday chose Freda Warfield to replace Rep. Vic Miller of Topeka.
Democrats appointed Miller last month to the Topeka-area Senate seat held by Gov.-elect Laura Kelly. She, Miller and Warfield take their new offices Jan. 14.
The 58-year-old Warfield worked in state government for nearly three decades, much of it as a Department of Revenue administrative assistant.
