Inmate art part of tonight's Art Walk

BJCC inmate art show winning entries are on display at Graceful Arts Gallery in Alva. Tour the gallery tonight 6-8 p.m. during the First Friday Art Walk.

Inmates at Bill Johnson Correctional Center (BJCC) in Alva have the opportunity to express themselves through art while giving back to the community. The program is called Giving back to the community through Art Program (GAP).

Inmates assigned to the program complete works of art that are offered for sale. All money from the sales is donated to youth programs and to help the elderly.

Programs benefiting from recent donations include Northwest Family Services for emergency safety of removed children, Officer Jeff McCoy Memorial Golf Tournament for Youth Scholarships, drug free awareness for Al...
