Going to the Emergency Room – Part 3

After hurting my left knee last summer, I rode in an ambulance to a hospital emergency room in Enid. I hadn’t been there long when they wheeled me down the hall to their Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) room.

The MRI scan showed that I had cracked my knee joint in three places. I had also torn my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and suffered cartilage damage. My leg hurt so much that I couldn’t put any weight on it.

They also referred me to an orthopedic surgeon who, they said, would examine me and set a date for surgery. By the time I went to see him a few days later, my knee had swell...
