Madison Brittain Shines in SWOSU Game

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Lady Tigers carry away some bright spots in loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Madison Brittain put in one of her best games of the year scoring 17 points for the Lady Tigers while going 75% from the three point line. Madison Raney continued her stand out sophomore season scoring six points and adding a season high seven rebounds. The Lady Tigers ran out of steam in this one dropping the game 104-50.

The first quarter started off sta little slow for the Tigers as they allowed Southwestern to jump out to a 9-2 lead. However, the Lady Tigers fought back cutting the lead to 4 at 12-8 with 4:30 left in the first quarter. Ouachita would get within one point at 19-18 on a Jakyya Clark layup with 20 seconds left in the first quarter; however, the bulldogs would make it a three point game at the end of one.

The teams exchanged buckets to start the second quarter. The Lady Tigers cut the lead down to three on an Eden Crow bucket at the 7:50 mark. The Tigers were stuck at 22 until a bucket by Madison Brittain with 3:49 left in the quarter. Brittain would score five more points in the quarter including a three pointer with 40 seconds left, but the tigers trailed at the half, 51-32.


In the second half, the Lady Tigers saw many career highs reached. Freshman Taylor Wells hit the first bucket of her career on a three pointer in the fourth quarter. Laura Spradlin crashed the board hard earning a career high four rebounds. Kara Rogers and Jessi Bennett also gave the Lady Tigers hard fought minutes in the Second Half.

The Lady Tigers fall to 4-9 (2-5 GAC) on the year. They will be back in action on Saturday Jan 12 against Northwestern Oklahoma State University at 1:00 PM at the Bill Vining Arena.
