There were no snowflakes in the air, but plenty inside as Burlington junior high and high school students enjoyed their first winter dance upon returning to school from the holiday break.

Kayla Highfill and Lauren Lagos enjoy dancing with Brenner Clark at the Burlington Winter Dance held Jan. 4.

The student council sponsored the winter dance on Friday, Jan. 4, at the school. Student Council members decorated the little gym with snowflakes of all sizes, a lighted snowman and lots of lights.

The students were buzzing with excitement over the opportunity to dress up and get together with their peers for an evening of music and fun.

Music teacher Isi Ofiu taught the students some line dances to a variety of songs. He also served as music DJ and encouraged lots of dance partner exchanges throughout the evening. There was lots of picture taking, smiling, laughter, movement and learning. Thank you to the administration for supporting this first time event for the students.
