Alva Girl Scouts held their annual cookie rally this past weekend. The rally is getting the girls prepared for the current cookie season. There will still be the same eight kinds of cookies this year: Samoas, Thin Mints, Dosidos, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Savannah Smiles, S'mores and Toffee-tastics. Cookie booths will start on Feb. 15 and will run through the end of sale on March 24 where you will see Girl Scouts set up in front of businesses. This is the last year for the Savannah Smiles. If this is your favorite, you might consider stocking up. There will be a new cookie next year.

The theme of this cookie sale is "Wild About Cookies" with Carli the Leopard being the stuffed animal this year. The girls rotated through stations seeing the prizes they get to work towards earning, making an arrow at the bullseye goal tracker station, learning about entering a contest to win a trip to the behind the scenes tour of the DC comic "The Super Hero Girls" in Warner Brothers Studio in California at the cookie pro station, reviewing all the safety tips, practicing their cookie pitch, practicing figuring out how much a customer owes for the cookies and how much change they get back when paying with different amounts of money at the money tree station, learning to market and promote their cookies, taste test the cookies, and rotating through packaging food for Stamp Out Starvation. The scouts packaged enough food to feed 5,616 people.

The Girl Scouts had a great time learning about this cookie sale and are prepared to start selling. Their favorite stations were the cookie tasting (eating is always a favorite) and the learning how to count back money. Several of the girls really enjoyed that station and didn't want to leave.
