Wonder Boys drop season opener to Tarleton State

HOUSTON, Texas – Dylan McDearmon went 2-for-5 with a home run and a pair of runs batted in but it was not enough as the Arkansas Tech baseball team (0-1) dropped its season opener, falling 8-5 to Tarleton State (1-0) on Friday afternoon at Minute Maid Park.

Tech recorded 12 hits, led by Dylan McDearmon who went going 2-for-5 with a home run and a pair of RBIs. McDearmon also stole a base.


Korey Thompson, Michael Post and Harry Gard each recorded two hits apiece. Thompson added a triple a RBI and a run scored, while Post added a RBI and a run scored.

Tech went 3-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base, while Tarleton State left 13 runners on base.

Hayes Cox took the loss after allowing five runs on four hits in 2.1 innings of work.

Drake Norton, Charlie Shipp, Patrick Miner and Kohl Drake came out of the bullpen and pitched a combined 4.0 shutout innings.
