February 3, 2019
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Oklahoma Baptist softball team finished its four-game stint in New Mexico as two-time winners. A day after beating Adams State, the Lady Bison did it a second time with an 8-7 come-from-behind win.
OBU lost the fourth and final game 4-1 to the tournament hosts, Eastern New Mexico. The Lady Bison, now 2-2 on the year, will next play host to Colorado College on Tuesday, Feb. 12. CCC is where new OBU Coach Sam Maples served as an assistant for four years.
In the second win against Adams State, OBU jumped in front 3-0 thanks in part to Demi Dobbs two-run homer in the first. ASC answered with four runs in the second and three in the third against starter Katie Long.
OBU trimmed ASC's lead to 7-5 in the fifth on Shelby Savage's two-run double. Savage was the hero in the final inning driving in a pair of runs with a one-out triple. She then scored the game winner after Kristen Grabin singled her home with a sharp shot to left field.
Grace Van Horn picked up the win in relief allowing just two runs in four-plus innings.
