Fourth-Quarter Surge Seals 21st Straight win for Lady Dawgs

February 10, 2019

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Hayden Priddy scored 13 consecutive points in the fourth quarter, breaking a 62-all tie and lifting the #14/11-ranked SWOSU Women's Basketball team to their 21st consecutive victory as the Lady Dawgs defeated Oklahoma Baptist 84-77 on Saturday afternoon at the Noble Complex in Shawnee.

Priddy scored a season-high 29 points and Tyra Aska added 20, helping the Lady Bulldogs hold off OBU's upset bid. SWOSU led by 10 points at halftime and as many as 12 in the third quarter, but less than three minutes into the fourth quarter Oklahoma Baptist regained the lead for the first time in the second half.

Savannah Gray knocked down a three-pointer to put SWOSU back on top, but a basket by OBU's Charissa Price with 7:15 to play knotted the score at 62-62. That was when Priddy went to work, hitting two straight three-pointers and scoring the games' next eight points to put SWOSU up 70-62 with 6:22 to play. Price then hit a three pointer, but Priddy answered with two more baskets – one while being fouled by Price – to keep the advantage for SWOSU.

Price hit another three at the 3:01 mark to make it a three-point game, 75-72, but this time it was Tyra Aska and Bethany Franks scoring baskets to stabilize the lead. One final triple from Price cut the lead back to four with just over a minute to play, but SWOSU's next offensive possession resulted in a clutch three-pointer from Savannah Gray that made it 82-75 with 55 seconds to play, a deficit that OBU could not overcome.

Hayden Priddy finished the game with 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field, which included knocking down 4-of-8 from deep and all seven free throws she attempted. She also pulled down three rebounds and collected three steals in 36 minutes of action. Tyra Aska also reached the 20-point mark after hitting 6-of-17 field goals and she caused havoc for the Lady Bison with five steals in the game. Hailey Tucker had a balanced line with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots while playing all 40 minutes in a game for the first time this season.

SWOSU (21-1, 16-0 GAC) returns to action on Thursday evening, hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center, with tipoff set for 5:30 pm.
