Alva cold shooting leads to 65-53 loss to Woodward

For about half the game Tuesday night, the Alva Goldbugs stayed even with the Woodward Boomers on scoring. But the first and fourth quarters resulted in the final Woodward win of 65-53.

It was the second meeting of the teams this season. Woodward won the prior game 80-66 in Alva on Jan. 28.

Alva had eight turnovers in the first quarter Tuesday and trailed 7-1 before finding scoring range. The first period ended with Alva behind 12-7.

In the second, Alva held turnovers to one and stayed neck-and-neck with Woodward on scoring, tying the game at 18 on a basket by Cameron Gordon. Then Reece Martin...
