Alva Church of God

Alva Friends Church

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m .; coffee and donut fellowship at 10:10 a.m .; worship at 10:30 a.m. Alva Friends Church is on the corner of College Avenue and Center Street.

Avard Christian Church

Barnes Street Church of Christ

Bible Baptist Church

Saturday, March 2: The Ladies' Spring Bible Study starts at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Sunday, March 3: Our Sunday School and Adult Bible Study Groups start at 10 a.m. There are three graded classes for children, a teen class and two adult Bible classes. Join us for a time of learning and fellowship. Join us for a time of learning and fellowship. Our worship service begins at 11 a.m. Come and sing the great hymns of faith and hear a message focused on making the Bible applicable to your life today. Our current sermon series is “Foundations: A Study of Genesis.”

Junior and Teen Impact, our student ministry for fourth through 12th grades, meets at 5 p.m. Looking for a Sunday night service? We have one starting at 6 p.m. Wise Guys & Gals also meets at 6 p.m. This ministry is for children in preschool to third grade.

Tuesday, March 5: Celebrate Recovery meets on Tuesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based recovery program to help provide a safe place to discover a Savior who can give freedom from hang-ups, hurts and habits. Everyone is invited to attend.

Wednesday, March 6: Our midweek prayer meeting and Bible study begins at 7 p.m.

Capron United Methodist Church

Cedar Grove Wesleyan Church

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Service times at Alva Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have changed: Sunday meetings will now be two hours instead of the previous three-hour block. The Alva Branch will now conduct services from 10 a.m. to noon each Sunday at the church building located at 1467 Thunderbird Rd., next to the Alva Recreation Center. Visitors are always welcome.

General authorities of the church at headquarters in Salt Lake City announced the change, effective in January, at the church's semi-annual General Conference in October. Leaders also announced a new program of home gospel study for individuals and families that correlates with the Sunday lessons.

The new two-hour block will consist of two meetings each week. Sacrament meeting (worship service) is scheduled 10-11 a.m. for all ages. The second hour will alternate between Sunday school for youth and adults on the first and third Sundays and Relief Society/Priesthood for adults and Young Men/Young Women for youth on the second and fourth Sundays. The branch president will determine the fifth Sunday curriculum. Children will attend Primary classes every Sunday for the second hour.

The curriculum for home study, Sunday school and Primary will center on the New Testament throughout the year with a theme of “Come Follow Me.” Anyone seeking more information can contact the Alva missionaries at 580-278-5592.

College Hill Church of Christ

Sunday Bible class for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. and worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Following the weekly fellowship lunch, the afternoon service will begin at 12:45 p.m. Don't miss a Sunday with our great Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

eXtreme Youth Center

Sixth-grade to 12th-grade students are invited to come to this fun place to hang out after school and through the summer. The eXtreme, located at 425 College Ave. in Alva, is under the direction of youth pastor Stony Kalonga. Sumer hours at the eXtreme are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

First Assembly of God

First Baptist Church

Sunday: Sunday school for all ages at 9:15 a.m. is followed by morning worship at 10:30 a.m., for which nursery is provided. The choir will rehearse at 2 p.m.

Tuesday: At noon is a brown bag Bible study – bring your lunch.

Wednesday: At 3 p.m. is Share Convalescent Home. Handbell practice is at 4 p.m. Church supper is at 5 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. by Team Kids (first through sixth grades); Bible study (Philippians), Jonah (women), “33” (men); and praise and worship team. Choir rehearsals are at 7 p.m.

First Christian Church

Sunday, March 3: Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. (On Fifth Sundays, we have a breakfast here at the church during this time.) Worship begins at 10:30 a.m., as does Worship and Wonder for children over 4 years of age; nursery is provided for children under age 4.

First United Methodist Church

Sunday, March 3: Sunday school classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. is worship service.

Monday, March 4: Methodist Men breakfast meeting.

Tuesday, March 5: At 11:30 a.m. will be the United Methodist Women luncheon meeting hosted by Mary-Martha Circle. Program will be presented by Rose Blunk.

Wednesday, March 6: The Chancel Choir will rehearse at 5:30 p.m. At 6 p.m. is the Wednesday Night Live fellowship dinner will be soups served by the We Are One class. WNL classes for children and youth will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Also at 6:30 p.m., Leap Into Health wellness group meets in Church Parlor. At 6:45 p.m., Ash Wednesday service will be held in the sanctuary.

Saturday, March 9: At 9 a.m. the Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet in Education Building.

Hopeton Church

Hopeton: a non-typical church! You don't have to dress in a suit to be accepted; you can wear your jeans, get a cup of coffee, and enjoy contemporary music, great videos, and a relevant message.

Hopeton Church meets at 10 a.m. at the main campus in Hopeton, just a few short miles south of Alva on 281. Coffee bar begins at 9:30 a.m. in the new children's wing. We have something for every age: nursery, children, teens, adults, women's support groups, and adult small H.O.M.E. groups for fellowship.

Nazarene Church

Donut and coffee fellowship is at 9:15 each Sunday morning, Bible study for ages 6 and up at 9:30, and worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Nursery is available for children under age 6 during worship. Missions lessons for ages 6 through fifth grade are held the second and fourth Sundays of the month.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church

Town and Country Christian Church

Sunday, March 3: At 9:30 a.m. will be Sunday school for all ages. The Sunday school lesson for the adult class will be “Called to Serve,” from Luke 14:7-14. At 10:30 a.m. worship service will begin. Chuck Lightfoot will bring the communion meditation. Chuck Lightfoot and Justin Williams will serve communion. Children's Church: Cherie Lau or Anita Jacobson. Pastor Paul Cole will bring the message. Bible study will be each Sunday night at 5 p.m.

Tuesday, March 5: Town and Country Saints will meet at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, March 6: Youth group will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, March 10: Daylight Saving Time begins; set clocks ahead one hour the night before. Fellowship meal will follow the morning worship services.

Sunday, March 17: Rest home services will be this afternoon.

Zion Lutheran Church

Please join us on Sundays for Sunday school and worship with Rev. Aaron Wagner at Zion Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) at Third and Maple streets.

Sundays school (children and adults) begins at 9:15 a.m. Fellowship is at 10 a.m. Worship starts at 10:30 a.m. with Communion on the first and third Sundays. During Advent and Lent, Zion holds Wednesday services at 7 p.m.

Weekly Happenings: Weekday School (grades 4-6) meets on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Handbells practice Mondays at 5 p.m..
