Wichita thieves posing as city workers to steal copper

 


WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Wichita police say thieves are posing as city workers to steal copper from city buildings.

KAKE-TV reports the thieves hit the Cow Town Museum Center last week, stealing the metal from air conditioning units.

Wichita officer Paul Cruz says if people who appear to be working at city buildings don't have the City of Wichita logo, witnesses should call police.

The thefts are occurring because copper prices have reached about $2.75 per pound.
