Hillcats Close Regular Season With 64-60 Win Over Oklahoma Christian

 


OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Rogers State Men's Basketball team came-from-behind to defeat Oklahoma Christian 64-60 Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season.

The Hillcats trailed by as much as 12 but Brewster Peacock fueled a second-half rally for Rogers State with 14 points. Peacock led the Hillcats overall and he shared for the game high 19 points and led all with nine rebounds.

Rogers State cut the deficit to seven by the half and then rallied to take the lead just 2:19 into the second half. The two teams then traded the lead eight more times before Latrell Tidwell gave the Hillcats the lead with 9:06 remaining.

Oklahoma Christian would tie the game three more times, but the Hillcats would never trail again over the final nine minutes.

The hosts tied the game at 57 with 95 seconds remaining and the game remained tied until Saint Hilaire hit a three pointer with 19 seconds left to put the Hillcats ahead for good.

Tate Turner and Peacock would each sink a pair of free throws to close out the victory.

Chase Littlejohn was the only other Hillcat in double figures, finishing with 11 points and three rebounds. Littlejohn and Peacock both came off the bench for the Hillcats in the game, as Rogers State led in bench scoring 36-29.

Hilaire and freshman Destin Eke finished with nine points each, while Turner and Tidwell had six and four points, respectively.

Rogers State will now set its sights on next week's Heartland Conference Basketball Tournament. The Hillcats will open up with No. 4 seeded Newman on Friday, March 8. Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
