Bids come in much higher than expected on Kiowa City Hall renovation

Kiowa council members say must revamp entire project, seek more bidders

The roof of Kiowa's City Hall downtown building has water damage that led to serious mold that is now in the walls and beyond “and only getting worse.” But the entire roof about blew off Monday night when two bids were presented for the renovation project that were each over $700,000.

“That's over three times the original (estimate),” Councilman Brian Hill said. “Our project needs to be scaled way back.”

Councilman Russ Molz said, “We'll get some more bidders.”
