Important clue left behind in theft

Cherokee Police say an accused thief took a case of beer and left his driver’s license behind at the Dollar General Store Wednesday, March 6.

Cherokee Police Officer Brock Philips was dispatched to the store on March 6. He talked with an employee who said two males walked into the store around 2:30 p.m. and bought Cokes. He said they were acting odd, and after Logan Lowrey paid for the drinks he asked if they had beer. The employee showed him where the beer was located and left to answer the phone. Lowrey left his driver’s license and the Cokes on the counter.

The employee said he thought he saw someone walk out the door. Later when he could check the cameras, the employee said it showed Lowrey walking out the door with a case of Budweiser beer. The value was listed at $7.15.

Officer Phillips had been on a domestic call involving Lowrey around 4:50 p.m. and saw a partial case of Budweiser bottles matching those taken from Dollar General.
