Harding Softball Shuts Out Oklahoma Baptist in Doubleheader Sweep

SEARCY – The Harding softball team didn't allow a run and swept Oklahoma Baptist in the Great American Conference doubleheader. Harding won the first game 2-0 and won the second game 6-0.

Harding improves to 16-12 overall and 8-8 in the GAC.

Oklahoma Baptist falls to 11-16 overall and 5-10 in the GAC.

Game One Key Innings (Harding 2, Oklahoma Baptist 0)

- After 5 ½ scoreless innings, Harding scored two runs in the sixth off a hit and two Oklahoma Baptist errors. Peyton Mills doubled in a run and Briley Feringa hit a sacrifice fly that scored Hanna Jones.

Game One Key Statistics

- Harding had six hits led by Hanna Jones who went 2-for-3.

- Oklahoma Baptist was held to three hits all by different players.

- Jenna Hipp got the win for Harding to improve to 6-3 on the season. She threw six innings, gave up three hits and had one strikeout.

- Emma Dwyer came on and pitched one inning of relief to earn her seventh save on the season. With the save, Dwyer broke the Harding record previously held by Kelly Beth Ernest who had 10 in her career. Dwyer also leads all of NCAA Division II in saves.


- Katie Long received the loss for Oklahoma Baptist and falls to 7-8.

Game Two Key Innings (Harding 6, Oklahoma Baptist 0)

- Harding got things going in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs on three hits and an Oklahoma Baptist error. Peyton Mills doubled in a run and Briley Feringa hit a sacrifice fly that scored Hanna Jones. Mills also scored on the play off a throwing error at third.

- Harding added two more in fifth when Amanda Fields hit a double to center field that scored Mills and Jones.

- Harding scored its final run in the sixth when Peyton Mills hit an infield single that scored Mason McCord.

Game Two Key Statistics

- Harding had eight hits with Kyndal Pirtle, Peyton Mills and Amanda Fields each having two.

- Oklahoma Baptist had four hits by four different players.

- Kymberlyn Baldwin came on in relief and got the win. She improves to 3-1 on the season. She pitched four innings, gave up three hits and had three strikeouts.

- Grace Van Horn received the loss and falls to 3-5 on the season.

Next Up

- Harding will continue GAC action next weekend when it travels to Bethany, Oklahoma to take on Southern Nazarene in a four-game series. The series is scheduled to started Friday at 2 p.m.
