March 24, 2019

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist gained ground on the leaders in the Great American Conference baseball standings winning the third and final game of its series with Arkansas Tech, 13-2. The Bison (17-11, 12-6 GAC) won two-of-three against the Wonder Boys and moved within two games of first place currently shared by Southern Arkansas and ATU.

OBU resumes play Tuesday at East Central University in Ada. The Bison have already beaten the Tigers twice by a combined score of 24-3.

Against Tech, OBU took an early 3-0 lead after the first two innings thanks in part to RBI singles by Brett Bloomfield and Eric Carlson. The margin grew to 6-1 in the sixth after an RBI double by Jake Gozzo and a run-scoring single by Ramon Enriquez.

OBU ended the game early with a seven-run seventh that forced the run rule. Gozzo's homer, his ninth of the year, was the highlight scoring Brock Carter in front of him.

Jake Lipetzky pitched into the sixth inning and was credited with the win improving to 2-2. Shane Kelso closed the game pitching the final one and two-thirds inning holding Tech scoreless during that stretch.
