Khrista McComb, Freedom High School senior, competed in last week's Regional Speech Tournament. The road to regionals began in January with her very first competition at Hennessey High School. There she placed third in poetry with her piece "To This Day" by Shane Koyczan.

"To this Day" is a poem written from Koyczan's perspective of being bullied as a child and surviving to tell his and others' story. "It's a powerful piece, and it has a great and personal message," McComb said. "I wanted to share it with others and this was a perfect opportunity."
