Goldbugs fall to Ponca City during final innings

The Goldbugs throw the base-runner out at first in Monday's match up versus Ponca City.

The Alva Goldbugs gave up one run in both the sixth and seventh innings during Monday's home match up versus Ponca City High School.

The Ponca City Wildcats entered Monday's match up versus the Goldbugs with a 4-6 record while on a two-game winning streak. Both the Wildcats' previous match-ups resulted in the team scoring nine runs apiece.

Kaden Slater of Alva High School took the mound Monday afternoon. Slater pitched seven innings, giving up two runs while striking out 11 batters.

Carson Shook of the Wildcats also pitched seven innings, allowed four hits; striking out nine batters.

Majority of the Goldbug's offense came by way of Austin Reed who had a nice single in the first inning. Dominic Minjares had two hits in the game.

Ponca City's Eli Wohl went three of four at the plate to lead the Wildcats offense.

After the loss to Ponca City Alva dropped to 7-6 on the season with a current two-game losing streak.

The Goldbugs' next match-up will be played on the road versus Guthrie at Midwest City high school today (Friday) at 6 p.m.
