Coltan Whitehouse hits a double to deep left field at the bottom of the second inning of the Rangers' game with Roger State University Tuesday afternoon.

ALVA, Okla. – “Hit ‘em where they ain’t.”

That’s exactly what the Rogers State Hillcats did Tuesday afternoon at Glass Family Field at Myers Stadium as the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers dropped the first of two midweek games in a 10-2 decision.

It was a struggle for the Rangers out of the gate with the Hillcats getting on top with a 1-0 lead after the first. However, Justin Bundy delivered the first of two runs batted in on the day for the senior with a single through the right side to bring home Johnnuelle Ponce from second to tie the game.

After Rogers State up a four spot in the top of the sixth and two more runs in the seventh, Bundy responded in the eighth with a solo blast, his eighth home run of the season, just to the right of straight away center to cut the difference to 7-2.

Unfortunately, a couple of free passes led to a two-run double in the top of the ninth, followed by an RBI single to bring the score to the final eight run difference at 10-2.

Bundy finished a triple shy of a cycle as he finished with three hits, two RBI and a run scored. Colton Whitehouse went 2-for-4 with a double and Bryce Donovan added a single.

Harry Park got the start for the Rangers and took the loss in five innings on the mound. Rafael Lara and Baron Phillips each pitched two innings.

Northwestern dropped its record to 17-12 this season with the loss.
