OC's Clift completes sweep by making 3rd Division II All-America list
April 3, 2019
BEAVERTON, Ore. (April 1, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian star Addy Clift made it three-for-three on NCAA Division II All-America honors on Monday when she was recognized as a third-team selection on the Women's Division II Bulletin list.
Clift earlier had received honorable mention on the other two major All-America lists, produced by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. She is the first OC player of either gender to make all three Division II All-America lists in a single season.
She's also only the fourth player in Heartland Conference history to make all three major All-America lists in a season, joining Amanda Newton of Drury (Mo.) in 2003-04 and 2004-05. Nicole Hampton of Lubbock Christian (Texas) in 2015-16 and Tess Bruffey of Lubbock Christian in 2017-18.
The 5-foot-7 senior guard from Kiowa, Okla., led Division II in scoring this season, averaging 26.4 points per game – a total that also set OC and Heartland single-season records.
"I've said it before – Addy deserves any and all accolades that come her way," OC coach Stephanie Findley said. "She is one of the most special players I've ever coached. It is hard to make an All-America list in Division II and she's made all three of them. She's certainly among the elite players in Heartland Conference history."
Clift shattered the Heartland career, season and single-game scoring records this season while becoming OC's highest-scoring guard ever, with 2,104 career points. She finished fifth on the overall program scoring list.
Last month, Clift was named as the Heartland's player of the year and received All-Heartland honors for the third consecutive season, then made the D2CCA All-South Central Region first-team list.
Clift received the Heartland's player-of-the-week award four times this season and nine times in her career. She was named as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division II player of the week once, after a week in which she set both the Heartland career and single-game scoring marks.
She became one of Division II's most feared scorers, producing points from all over the court. She is Division II's active career leader in made 3-pointers with 307, fourth among active career scorers and fifth in free-throw shooting (85.0 percent).
Her 2,104 points set the Heartland career scoring record by more than 300 points. She obliterated the Heartland's former single-season scoring record of 656 points, pouring in 739 points, the second-highest total in OC history.
Clift posted 11 30-point games this season and two 40-point games, both against quality opponents. She set the Heartland and OC single-game records with 44 points in a win on Dec. 17 over Eastern New Mexico (which made the Division II tournament), then broke that with a 45-point outing in a win over St. Mary's (Texas) on Jan. 19. Of the six 40-point games in Heartland history, Clift produced four of them.
She broke the Heartland's career scoring average record with an 18.46-points-per-game mark over 114 games. She also set Heartland single-season records for free throws made (219) and attempted (250) and the career record for 3-pointers.
Contrary to popular opinion, Clift wasn't just a shooting threat. She ranked second in the Heartland with 2.1 steals per game and eighth in assists at 2.8 per game.
