Sue Burks, financial aid assistant director at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, has been selected by the Staff Council as the recipient of the 2018 fall semester Campus Kudos Award.

Melissa Brown, administrative assistant to the division of education and staff council chair, presented Burks with the Campus Kudos award.

The person nominating Burks for this award said, "Sue has worked numerous extra hours this fall to help get students' financial aid awarded. She always does her best to find as much aid as possible for each student while diligently maintaining Department of Education standards. She often has to request documents for verification that are sometimes difficult for many people to discuss (finances, death in family, guardianship, etc.). She does her best to help the family realize it is nothing personal, just following guidelines. The financial aid office is way ahead of awarding/dispersing money to students this year, and Sue is a BIG reason for it!"

Campus Kudos is a public acknowledgment created by the Northwestern Staff Council that applauds the efforts of eligible staff members who have displayed an act of kindness above their job responsibilities. This award is presented each semester, including the summer term.

"I am honored to receive this award and truly blessed to have the opportunity to help the students to achieve their higher education goals," Burks said about receiving her award. "I could not do what I do without the assistance of our office staff who are also amazing"
