Company seeks to construct wind farm near Goltry

Alfalfa County commissioners hear from NextEra Energy

A wind farm projected to generate up to $60 million in property taxes and give about the same in landowner payments during its first 30 years, is getting closer to becoming a reality for Alfalfa County residents, specifically near Goltry. The 250-megawatt wind farm, dubbed Skeleton Creek, will be located in the northwest corner of Garfield County and the southeast corner of Alfalfa County. Construction on the project will likely start in a few months and is slated to be operational by the end of the year 2019, said Elinore Beitler, a project manager with NextEra Energy.
