HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – For the second straight season, the SWOSU Women's Golf team finished as the runner-up at the Great American Conference Championships after dropping from the top spot during Tuesday's final round at Hot Springs Country Club.
SWOSU placed four golfers in the top-10 and all five placed among the top-11, but Arkansas Tech posted the lowest score of the tournament on Tuesday to overtake the Lady Bulldogs for the Conference Championship. Chloe Thackeray led the way for SWOSU, finishing five-over par for the tournament after posting a three-over 75 in the final round to claim second place on the leaderboard.
Gloria Choi matched Thackeray with a 75 on Tuesday and moved into a tie for fifth place at nine-over par for the tournament, two shots ahead of Jenna Eidem, who tied for seventh after firing a 78 in the final round. Elin Wahlin held on for 10th place after posting a round of 79 in the final round while Veronika de Bochdanovits climbed up to 11th place with a third-round score of 76 strokes.
The second-place finish matches the GAC Championship-best finish for the Lady Bulldogs and gives them seven top-three team finishes in 10 tournaments this season. Next up for SWOSU is a trip to the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championships, which will be held in Muskogee, Okla., on May 6-8.
