RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas Tech senior pitcher Kristen Dempsey was honored by the Great American Conference as the league's Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Dempsey was instrumental in the Golden Suns' sweep against #4 Southern Arkansas Sunday and Monday. She earned the win in Game 2 on Sunday, pitching a scoreless five innings and allowing just two hits. Dempsey also pitched in 1.1 innings of relief in Game 2 on Monday and allowed no hits.

A senior from Benton, Ark., Dempsey has pitched a total of 91.2 innings this season and has earned ten wins for the Suns in that span.

The Golden Suns return to action this Friday and Saturday with a four-game series against Arkansas-Monticello. Friday's doubleheader begins at 3 p.m. and Saturday's begins at noon.
