CLAREMORE, Okla. – Grant Farris had three hits and Griffin Keller broke a tie in the eighth inning with a solo home run to give Rogers State a 6-5 victory over Newman University in the Heartland Conference series opener at the Diamond Sports Complex.

The visitors jumped out to an early lead, scoring on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead.

Newman would grow their lead in the third inning with a pair of runs, capitalizing on an error from the Hillcats, to go up 3-0.
