Patchwork Friends OHCE group holds monthly meeting

April 28, 2019

The Patchwork Friends OHCE group met for their regular meeting at the home of Liz Kinzie on April 9. President Joanne Prewett called the meeting to order. Janice Litton led the group in the flag salute. Devotions were given by the hostess on “The Shamal Principle.” Roll call was answered to “Name an article you have repurposed.” Those answering were Judy Weaver, Mary Barker, Barbara Cue, Dottie Gatz, Liz Kinzie, Janice Litton, Joanne Prewett, Maureen Thomas and Doris White. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved after a correction. Barbara Cue gave the treasurer's report. Pennies and nickels were collected.

All the members helped plant flowers for Earth Day at The Homestead. Maureen Thomas and Dottie Gatz reported on the OHCE District Meeting that was held in Guymon on March 23. Leader's lesson for May will be held on April 25 at 1:30 p.m. in the Woods County Courthouse. That evening, all OHCE members will meet at the fairgrounds to sew Heart Pillows. The Spring OHCE Meeting will be held on May 6 at the Woods County Women's Building. Liz Kinzie gave the group their yellow shirts for OHCE Week. The Scavenger Hunt/Heart Walk, sponsored by the Patchwork Friends for OHCE Week, will be held Sunday, May 5, starting at 5 p.m. The Scavenger Hunt/Walk will begin at the Runneymeade Hotel and follow a marked route. Thank you to Ken Brown for use of the Runnymede and H&R Block for co-sponsoring this event.

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned.

Dottie Gatz gave the lesson on "Repurposing Clothing and Household Items." Each member was given a handout and they talked about the things they had repurposed. Liz Kinzie gave a mini lesson concerning safety when canning. She gave another mini lesson on making a model of someone you might want to sew for. She used a T-shirt, duct tape and stuffing to make a model.

A lovely dessert was served by Liz Kinsey. The next meeting for the Patchwork Friend's will be May 9 at the home of Doris White.
