Project Trust aims build trust with at-risk Tulsa students

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Nearly every high schooler in class raised a hand when Tulsa Police Deputy Chief Jonathan Brooks asked how many students had a "bad experience" with officers in an outside setting.
Brooks prodded the Phoenix Rising Alternative School students to share their true feelings about police to elicit discussion on seemingly tough or taboo topics and present "the other side of us" to begin building relationships.
Brooks recently introduced the class of about 20 students at Phoenix Rising Alternative School to the police partnership with Tulsa Public Schools dubbed Project Trust. Br...
