Spiritually Speaking

James 4:7-10: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double-minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Several years ago, I was introduced to a recording by Bob Dylan which included the recurring line “You’ve got to serve somebody.” Oddly enough, the song was coming from the car speakers of our family physician...
