Baseball: SWOSU Upended by Arkansas Tech in GAC Opener

ENID, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball was limited to two hits on Saturday evening as they dropped a 5-2 decision to Arkansas Tech in their opening game of the Great American Conference Tournament at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid.

With the loss, SWOSU now faces elimination as they face top-seeded Arkansas-Monticello on Sunday at 4:00 pm.

The Bulldogs scored the first run of the game as Chase Duncan scored on a double-play groundout by Kannon McCune. The lead would be short-lived, however, as a solo home run by ATU tied the game before a two-run double put the Wonder Boys on top. Another solo home run and an RBI fielder's choice had Tech up 5-1 in the eighth before the Dawgs got an RBI single from Alex Pimentel in the ninth to score Alex Bedard for the final run of the contest.

Tyler Tuck (7-3) pitched admirably under the lights in Enid, tossing a complete game and allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out eight batters. ATU's Isaac Hale threw a complete game and struck out six Bulldogs while allowing just two hits.
