Freedom school bond issue election fails

Unofficial returns reported by the state election board show 51.01 percent of voters Tuesday were in favor of the Freedom Public Schools bond proposition. In Oklahoma, a three-fifths majority is required to pass a school bond issue so it appears the proposition has failed. Election results will not be official until Friday at 5 p.m.

A total of 149 votes were counted with 76 in favor and 73 against. There were eight absentee ballots, four in favor and four against. The three early voters all cast ballots against the proposition. In the election Tuesday, 72 voted in favor and 66 against.
