Burlington School celebrates 'event full' last day of school

Burlington junior high and high school students race to the line to prepare themselves in the annual end-of-the-school-year dodgeball tournament.

The last day of school is full of excitement, anticipation of summer and celebration of the end of the school year.

Burlington seniors Brenner Clark and Sadie Crusinbery received a number of scholarships to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Clark will participate in choir, among other activities, and Crusinbery will be a member of the Ranger Cheer Team.

At Burlington School, the last day of the 2018-19 school started with an awards assembly. The junior high and high school students were rewarded for their academic efforts and the seniors were awarded scholarships.

After the assembly, the students and staff enjoyed an outdoor cookout of hamburgers and hot dogs.

The most anticipated event of the day is the traditional dodge ball tournament. This event has been ongoing for many years at Burlington School. The junior high and high school classes prepare T-shirts and dress in costume for the coveted best-dressed title. The classes then play several rounds of competition to determine the dodge ball champions.

Elementary classes enjoy watching the older students play. This year the older students even entertained and encouraged the younger students' participation in the Baby Shark Dance.

The junior class, dressed in overalls and calling themselves "juniorsonly.com" received the Best Dressed Award.

The sophomore class, with a three-peat performance, won the dodge ball championship.
