Alva Garden Club installation of officers

Barbara Faulkner's lovely garden served as the setting for the installation of new officers for the Alva Garden Council, and Petunia and Tulip Garden clubs on Wednesday, June 5. Alva Mayor Kelly Parker met with the newly elected presidents of each club to sign an official proclamation designating the week of June 2-8, 2019, as National Garden Week. Faulkner presented the mayor with a mixed bouquet from the Garden Council for his continuous support of garden club projects and activities. Linda McCoy, outgoing president of the Alva Garden Council, conducted the installation. New officers for 2019 - 2021 term are as follows:

Members of the Tulip Garden Club served refreshments following the ceremony to approximately 16 attendees. Touring Faulkner's lovely garden before or after the installation ceremony was an added bonus for many garden club members. Other National Garden Week activities included delivering National Garden Week posters to businesses by members of the Petunia Garden Club and delivering fresh flower bouquets to businesses by members of the Tulip Garden Club.
