Alva man charged with burglary

Dickie Ledon Seiger, 50, of Alva, has been charged with attempted burglary in the first degree, a felony. Court information states Seiger allegedly attempted to break in and enter a house owned and occupied by Derek Seevers in the 1100 block of Choctaw in Alva. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for three and one-half to ten years.

Court records show on June 20 at approximately 7:15 a.m. Woods County dispatch received a call from Seevers requesting Alva Police Officer Sean Farris to return his call. About five minutes later, Farris called Seevers who said at 3:30 that morning, Seiger, who used to live in the residence with Seevers, woke up Seevers by banging loudly on this front door and shouting “open the door you *** punk.”

Seevers said Seiger then moved to the rear door of the residence and began kicking it. According to Seevers, Seiger succeeded in kicking the door open, but Seevers was bracing his body against the door so Seiger did not make it inside.

Seevers said he shouted at Seiger that he had a gun and would shoot him if he came through the door and that the police were on the way to the residence. This caused Seiger to flee through Seevers’ backyard and away from the scene.

Seevers is in poor health and told Farris he felt he would be unable to defend himself if Seiger had made it into the home.

Court records show Seiger was convicted in Woods County in 2011 for possession of controlled substance and for distribution of controlled drug – marijuana, both felonies. In 2014 he was convicted of possession of stolen property, also a felony.
