Northwestern Oklahoma State University has named Craig Binkley as its new assistant coach in cross country and track and field.
Binkley spent the previous five years as an assistant coach at Wittenberg University in Ohio. Wittenberg is an NCAA Division III institution.
In all, Binkley has 15 years of collegiate experience at all levels of NCAA competition.
Stated Binkley, "I'm excited to get started working at Northwest Oklahoma State University. The program has taken tremendous strides since Coach Lancaster has taken over and I look forward to working with her and playing a role in leading this team to greater success."
At Wittenberg, he coached runners to establish new school records in the 800 meters and 5,000 meters. He coached several all-conference and All-Ohio performers in track and field and in 2016 helped lead the cross country teams to its highest finish in the North Coast Athletic Conference championships in six years.
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee at Wittenberg named him as Men’s Coach of the Year.
Binkley also has head coaching experience at the University of Antelope Valley in California (NAIA), Westminster College in Utah (NAIA) and Colorado State University-Pueblo (NCAA II).
Binkley has extensive experience training cross country, middle distance and distance runners.
“I am excited to have Coach Binkley join our program and I am confident our team members will benefit from his experience and coaching ability,” Jill Lancaster, head coach for cross country and track and field, said. “He has a passion for the both cross country and track and field. He really cares about helping student athletes achieve success in the classroom, in their life and as an athlete. I am looking forward to working with him as we work to build teams that will challenge for championships in the Great American Conference.”
