Tracking turkeys: Volunteers sought for New York survey

 


ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — It's time for the annual summer survey of wild turkeys in New York.

The Department of Environmental Conservation is recruiting volunteers for the citizen science project. Participants report information about turkeys seen around their homes or while traveling around the state.

The DEC says up-to-date population data is necessary for making management decisions and understanding how populations fluctuate.
