Alva biomedical sciences instructors have had a busy summer

This summer, Brenna Heaton and Kala Mead participated in several weeks of training on the Project Lead the Way curriculum used in the BioMedical Sciences program at Northwest Technology Center.

Kala Mead, who teaches BioMedical Sciences II, and Dr. Brenna Heaton, who teaches BioMedical Sciences I, spent the bulk of their summers training to teach the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum that the program requires. PLTW is a nationally recognized science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum that is taught at Northwest Technology Center (NWTC).

The pair traveled to Lee's Summit, Missouri, for the first half of the training in June and to Frisco, Texas, for the July portion. Mead was enrolled in the BioMedical Innovations class in June and just completed the Medical Inte...
