Oklahoma City artist Lauren Florence specializes in acrylic paintings of animals and people. Her work is on display during August at the Graceful Arts Gallery in Alva.
Though she loved art from an early age, Lauren Florence didn't really begin her career until after her son was born. She grew up in Bartlesville where she was born and was exposed to art early with visits to Woolaroc Museum in her hometown as well as Tulsa's Gilcrease and Philbrook. She has lived in Oklahoma City for the last seven or eight years.
Her parents discouraged her art aspirations, wanting her to have a career that would pay the bills. However, at age 42 when her son was a year old, she found herself at home with a baby. She started painting, and within a few years started selling he...
