Montana to offer 600 deer licenses for special hunt

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Montana wildlife officials are planning to offer 600 special licenses to hunt deer in an effort to test for chronic wasting disease and contain its spread.

The Missoulian reports licenses for the special white-tailed deer hunt in the Libby area will go on sale Aug. 19 first at retailers in Libby, Noxon, Eureka, Kalispell and Troy.

The licenses allowing the hunting of does or young bucks will be available statewide later in the day.

Hunters in the special management zones will be required to take the heads of their kills to a wildlife office to get the animal tested...
